Book Aid Announces Death of Ada Hiley

Ada HileyIt is with enormous sadness that Book Aid has to announce the death of Ada Hiley on Saturday 2nd September.

Many will know that Ada was the co-founder of Book Aid, along with her husband Bob and she worked tirelessly and wholeheartedly for the Lord setting up and running the Book Aid bookshop here in London and overseeing the other BookAid bookshops around the country

Ada was 86 years old and was at work on 31 July the day before she had surgery for a longstanding serious health issue.  That surgery was not successful and after a number of serious complications she did not recover.  She finally went to be with her Lord and Saviour on Saturday morning.  Funeral arrangements will be announced shortly.

  1. So very sorry to hear of dear Ada’s death. She was very much on my mind over the weekend and I was wondering how her operation had gone. My love and prayers and sincere condolences to Bob and the family. Inez

  2. I am so very sorry to hear of the passing of this saint and special lady. How often she has greeted me and fixed a cup of tea. So sad from the earth side – so happy when viewed from heaven. I will miss her very much. wm snider. usa

  3. My prayers are with Bob and also with Christine and other family members. May they know God’s peace and comfort.

  4. Heart-felt prayers for all of Ada’s family and all of you at Book Aid. I was a frequent visitor to the Lower Sydenham bookshop in the years I lived in Bromley. Ada was always a gracious and helpful presence as I added to my small library of Christian classics. The benefits of reading them remain with me in retirement.
With very best wishes, Alan J Shelley, Binsted, Hampshire, UK.

  6. I’ve had the privilege of knowing Ada and Bob for many years. Particularly when I lived in London. But since then, on may visits to London, it’s been so lovely to see Ada, and be blessed by the joy she radiated. Truly gracious lady who will be much missed by all who met her. Prayers and much love to the family left behind.
